Boys' Basketball holds off Kent

Taft improves to 7-2 with a 71-64 victory over a very talented Kent basketball team. The Rhinos came out of the locker room determined to set the tone and show that they can compete with Class A’s top teams. Taft proved worthy and more, as they were able to build a 10-point lead midway through the first half. Kent battled on the glass and stayed within striking distance, not allowing Taft to feel too comfortable.  The Big Red led at halftime 36-28.

 

The lions came storming out of the break and cut the lead to a single point within the first two minutes. The score was 38-37 with 14 minutes left play. Taft responded with a run of their own which propelled them to an 18-point lead with 3 minutes on the clock. Kent would not go away as they got hot from beyond the arc making 4 three-pointers while forcing Taft into careless turnovers. The lions cut the lead to 5-points but The Rhinos held on, eventually winning by seven points.
